Story details

Residents of Murmansk Oblast received nearly 4,600 mortgage housing loans totaling RUB 15.9 billion in January–August 2026, according to an 8 October release from the Bank of Russia’s regional branch. Compared with the same period in 2025, loan count was up 45% and value up 37%.

The average mortgage size in August was RUB 3.7 million. The release also reports 338 loans for individual housing construction from the start of the year, worth RUB 1.4 billion; their count was 9% higher and value 32% higher year on year.

The eight-month totals and August average refer to different periods. The figures describe lending to residents of the oblast and should not be interpreted as the number or cost of homes completed. The release reports housing loans, not a survey of every financing source.

These are reported bank-credit statistics, not a forecast of future issuance. They capture loan volume and value through August 2026; they do not establish subsequent repayment performance or the condition of each borrower. The source is the Bank of Russia regional office.
