Story details

The average loan from pawnshops registered in Ryazan Oblast was RUB 21,000 in the first half of 2026, up 20.4% from a year earlier, the Bank of Russia reported on 8 October. The release covers local pawnshop activity for January–June.

Consumers concluded more than 65,000 pawnshop agreements worth nearly RUB 1.4 billion over the six months. The regional branch says the loans in its report were secured by jewellery, rather than other collateral types.

The average loan and total contract value are different measures: one describes a typical reported loan amount and the other aggregates the agreements. The reported data refer to pawnshops registered in the oblast, not every credit product used by residents.

The figures are retrospective market statistics and do not represent a forecast or an assessment of every borrower. The release does not provide a breakdown by chain or individual shop. The primary source is the Bank of Russia’s Ryazan regional branch.
