Story details
Rosstat’s release on 2 October gives a first estimate of Russia’s gross domestic product at RUB 56,166.3 billion in current prices for the second quarter of 2026. The physical-volume index was 101.3% of the level a year earlier, while the GDP deflator was 112.5% year on year.
Household final consumption expenditure was RUB 29,582.5 billion, reported as 53.1% and gross fixed capital formation of RUB 11,497.5 billion as 20.5%. Rosstat notes that the shares are calculated against GDP excluding the statistical discrepancy, so they need not equal those amounts divided by the headline total. These components describe how the expenditure-side GDP total was used.
The figures should be read as distinct measures. The current-price GDP value is a nominal total; the physical-volume index compares real output with Q2 2025; and the deflator records price change in GDP. The release also reports a 108.1% volume index against Q1 2026, a separate quarter-on-quarter comparison.
This is a statistical estimate for one quarter, not a forecast or a measure of individual company activity. The published totals do not identify particular producers, fields or wells. Rosstat’s release provides the national accounts figures; later revisions or additional releases may update the estimate.
