Saudi Arabia chaired the sixth meeting of deputies of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), held virtually on September 29, the Saudi Press Agency reported on October 5. The meeting brought together senior officials and experts from member states. Saudi chair Dr. Ryadh Alkhareif said the global outlook faced challenges amid geopolitical developments and called for stronger policy coordination and international cooperation.
Participants reviewed the IMF managing director’s Global Policy Agenda and discussed the Fund’s role in supporting member countries and financial stability. They also considered a draft IMFC communiqué and fiscal and economic policy issues ahead of the IMF and World Bank Group annual meetings, scheduled in Bangkok from October 12 to 18, 2026.
