Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the establishment of a non-profit association for lighting manufacturers on September 3, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The ministry said the body is intended to contribute to the development of local lighting products and solutions, while strengthening the role of non-profit organizations in the industrial and mining sectors.

The association’s stated work includes developing national expertise in lighting design, manufacturing and testing, as well as smart control systems. It also plans to support research with universities, protect intellectual property and represent Saudi manufacturers at exhibitions and technical committees. SPA said the association would help factories pursue quality certifications and export-market accreditation, and create a shared industry database and annual forum.
