Story details
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund held a workshop on estimating fiscal multipliers at the ministry’s Riyadh headquarters from September 6 to 10, the ministry reported on September 17. Participants included specialists from the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Investment and the Public Investment Fund.
The workshop covered how fiscal multipliers measure the effect of changes in government spending, revenue or fiscal-control measures on GDP and economic activity. Participants also discussed how estimates can help improve fiscal-policy effectiveness and the consistency of economic forecasts. The ministry said such analysis can inform the size, composition, timing and sequencing of financial measures.
