Story details

The Saudi Water Authority will hold the inaugural Water Regulation Exchange (WREx) in Riyadh on 1 November. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on 2 October, the event will convene representatives from four international organisations and 25 global regulatory bodies alongside industry experts and decision-makers.

WREx is organised in strategic partnership with the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA). Its aim is to advance regulatory frameworks that improve the efficiency and sustainability of water services; participants will review benchmark models and practices from the GCC, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific region.

Panel sessions will cover compliance and performance-monitoring models and how public, private and financing roles can be integrated into more agile regulatory systems.

The event has not yet taken place; the announcement does not say that any new regulation, tariff or investment decision will be adopted.
