Story details
The Saudi Water Authority concluded the seventh Water Research Community event in Riyadh on September 30, reporting 12 agreements and 130 research proposals. About 400 researchers, experts and representatives of government, universities, research centres and industry attended from Saudi Arabia and abroad. The Authority organized the event through its Water Technologies Innovation Institute and Research Advancements.
Four workshops covered sustainability and advanced materials, process innovation, clean and renewable energy, and the circular economy. An exhibition presented more than 60 posters on water technology, AI-assisted resource recovery, groundwater treatment, data-centre waste heat, leak detection and sustainable agriculture. The event brought research presentations together with industry and public-sector participation.
The Authority listed goals of turning 15% of proposals into applied projects, funding more than 15 projects, registering 20 patents and moving six to ten technologies a year into commercial use. These are programme targets, not results already achieved at this edition. SPA said seven editions have received over 470 proposals and facilitated 47 agreements.
