Story details
Zain KSA and data-centre investor and operator DataVolt signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding on September 1 to explore establishing data centres in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The announcement came during the companies’ participation in LEAP 2026, which was scheduled to run in Riyadh through September 3. The parties described the plan as a response to demand for cloud services, digital applications and artificial-intelligence technologies.
The proposed facilities are intended to prioritize energy efficiency, sustainability, flexibility and scalability. SPA said the design would include infrastructure for high-density computing, advanced cooling and high-capacity connectivity. The memorandum is non-binding, and the announcement provides no investment value, capacity or construction timetable. The partners linked the initiative to national aims to expand digital infrastructure and attract technology investment.
