Story details

Searchlight Resources announced on 28 October that it had completed a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey over its Mari Lake Gold Project in Saskatchewan. The survey covered a 57.0-square-kilometre claim package approximately 30 kilometres north of Creighton and Flin Flon. The company holds the claims outright, with no royalties.

The expanded property provides approximately seven kilometres of exposure along the Kississing River Shear Zone. Searchlight intends to integrate magnetic data with historical exploration records to identify and rank targets. Magnetic features reveal contrasts in subsurface properties; they are not direct measurements of gold grade or a mineral resource.

Preliminary interpretation identifies features near known historical gold occurrences and a magnetic low near earlier drilling and trenching. The company also sees a possible parallel structural zone that needs further evaluation. These are geological interpretations to guide exploration rather than confirmed extensions demonstrated by new drilling.

Historical work between 1945 and 1986 included 22 drill holes and 39 trenches. Searchlight cautions that it has not independently verified the historical sampling or assays. The survey completion is new, while the earlier gold results remain historical evidence with that limitation; follow-up work is needed to test the newly prioritised targets.
