Story details

South Sudan’s caretaker petroleum minister Awow Daniel met ministry leaders, managers and staff in Juba on 23 September. The ministry’s own account describes a discussion of administrative challenges and regulatory priorities.

Daniel called for closer coordination among the undersecretary, technical advisers, directorates and staff. He also sought stronger engagement with the National Legislative Assembly on institutional challenges affecting petroleum oversight.

The meeting concluded with commitments to accountability and shared responsibility. This is an institutional update, without a new drilling award, oil-output figure or investment agreement.
