Story details
Fervo Energy announced on 1 October 2026 that the first GeoBlock at Cape Station in Beaver County, Utah, had reached contractual commercial operation. It synchronized to the grid on 24 September and declared commercial operation on 30 September, with revenue beginning under its power purchase agreement.
The company reports that the first GeoBlock achieved 33 MW of net power production. This describes an electricity-generation block in an enhanced geothermal development, not the output of an individual geothermal well or a measured full-year energy total.
Phase I comprises approximately 100 MW across three GeoBlocks. The other two were still being commissioned, with contractual commercial operation expected by 1 January 2027. A further 400 MW phase was under construction with a 2028 target. Those future capacities should remain separate from the first block’s reported operating milestone.
