Story details
Ximen Mining updated site readiness at the Kenville Gold Mine near Nelson, British Columbia, on 28 October. It now targets the start of portal-face work in early November 2026, replacing its previously announced end-of-October target. The revised timetable depends on completing final preparations and permit preconditions.
Site buildings, electricity supply and primary mining and surface equipment are in place. A survey plan for preparing the new portal face has been completed, and a startup crew has been assembled. Some backup equipment and support items remain off-site and can be mobilized if required.
The company still needs to complete remaining conditions, including explosives storage and use authorisation, before starting the portal. Explosives magazines are on site, but physical delivery of storage equipment does not by itself satisfy all authorisation and safety requirements. Portal and decline work would proceed under the existing Mines Act framework.
Ximen also said development-funding discussions continue without a definitive agreement. It gave no assurance that financing would close within a particular period or on acceptable terms. The announcement establishes progress in site preparation, while the actual portal start and funding arrangements remain conditional milestones.
