Story details

Qatar Mining told Sudan’s minerals minister on 5 October that it was willing to resume its mining activities after a period of suspension. The account followed a meeting with a company delegation at the ministry in Khartoum.

Company executive Hamad Rashid Al Athba said Qatar Mining had previously made significant progress in exploration and wanted to restart in the coming period. The report gives no deposit name, exploration metric, investment figure or operational schedule.

The minister said the ministry would provide facilities and work with the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company to address obstacles. These were commitments to facilitate a possible return, not evidence that production or exploration had restarted.

The announcement is therefore an expression of intent and a government offer of support. A confirmed restart, project scope and any new spending would need later company or ministry updates before being described as completed activity.
