Story details

Rosatom's TVEL fuel division commissioned its Moscow-region gigafactory on 6 October, according to the company release republished by Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency on 7 October. The lithium-ion facility is intended to make energy-storage batteries for electric transport and stationary power systems and forms part of a robotic battery-manufacturing cluster.

TVEL gives the facility a rated capacity of 4 GWh per year. It also reports that trial runs produced about 20 battery packs for the Atom electric car, about 600 battery modules and more than 40,000 cells. Those are trial-run figures; the release does not report full-year commercial output.
