Story details
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said Minister Sabah Abdulaziz Al-Sabah led the country’s delegation to the 31st meeting of the GCC Committee for Electricity and Water Cooperation on October 5. The meeting took place in Bahrain, so the event location was outside Kuwait even though the ministry and delegation were Kuwaiti.
The ministry said participants discussed cooperation in electricity and water, including the regional electricity interconnection and studies concerning water interconnection. The committee also considered coordination among member states. The public account does not specify the technical design, route, cost, capacity or timetable for a proposed water link, and it does not quantify electricity exchanges.
Regional electricity links can allow neighboring systems to coordinate power flows, while water interconnection would require its own engineering, supply and governance decisions. In this release, both areas appear as topics for discussion and study. It does not say that a water network was approved for construction, that a contract was signed or that any additional power or water capacity became available.
The ministry’s report provides no formal resolution text, financing amount or delivery schedule. It supports the narrower conclusion that the committee discussed sector cooperation and interconnection matters at its Bahrain meeting. Any future project status would require a separate approval, design or contract announcement.
