The value of permits dropped to $12.2 billion, more than reversing June’s increase.
The total value of building permits issued in Canada fell 17.3%, or $2.6 billion, to $12.2 billion in July 2026, Statistics Canada reported. The decline more than offset June’s $2.3 billion increase.
In constant dollars, permit value was down 17.5% month over month and 2.2% from July 2025. Permits are an indicator of planned construction, not completed building work or a count of homes ultimately built.
The company’s September disclosure includes taxes, salaries, dividends and local procurement spending.
The 8 September update covers drilling through March 2026; the resource estimate is not a reserve.
