The European Banking Authority’s second-quarter risk dashboard, published on 25 September, reports robust capital and liquidity at EU and European Economic Area banks. The common equity tier 1 ratio was 16.1%, while the liquidity coverage ratio stood at 158.5%.
Household lending grew 5.2% year on year and lending to non-financial companies rose 6.3%. The non-performing loan ratio was 1.8%. The EBA also cautioned that geopolitical tensions, uncertain markets and difficult economic conditions warrant monitoring; the dashboard reflects supervisory reporting for Q2.
