Story details
A one-megawatt solar mini-grid was commissioned in Talasse, headquarters of Balanga Local Government Area, Gombe State. Voice of Nigeria reported that residents had faced 17 years without reliable electricity and that the new facility is expected to serve about 6,000 households and business premises.
The project involved the federal and state governments, the World Bank and Mids Dynamic Ltd. Power Minister Joseph Tegbe described it as part of off-grid expansion; the report also cites a federal approval of $750 million for electricity access in more than 30 communities nationwide. The reported customer reach is an expected service area, not a measured connection count.
