Story details

Normandy Minerals Ltd. announced core assay results from the ongoing phase one diamond drilling program at the Errington zinc-copper-lead-silver-gold deposit, located inside the southern structural margin of the Sudbury Basin in northern Ontario. Drill hole ER-26-004 intercepted 28.5 meters grading 8.24 percent zinc, 1.46 percent copper, 1.18 percent lead, 88.5 grams per tonne silver, and 0.85 grams per tonne gold from a downhole depth of 185 meters, including a massive sulfide sub-interval of 11.2 meters grading 14.15 percent zinc and 2.62 percent copper.

The Errington deposit represents a classic volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) occurrence situated within the Paleoproterozoic Whitewater Group, hosted at the stratigraphic contact between the Onaping tuff formation and the overlying carbonaceous mudstones of the Onwatin Formation. Historical mining in the mid-twentieth century developed underground shafts down to 450 meters before lower metal prices prompted closure, leaving substantial extensions of high-grade sulfide mineralization intact along strike and down-dip toward the adjacent Vermilion deposit.

Downhole electromagnetic geophysical surveys completed on hole ER-26-004 revealed a massive off-hole conductor extending over 350 meters plunge-length below current drilling limits. Normandy is advancing metallurgical testing on drill core samples at a certified commercial laboratory in Lakefield to verify selective flotation separation into distinct high-grade zinc and copper-silver concentrates with low iron penalties. The project benefits from established rail links, electrical grids, and smelting infrastructure in Sudbury.

Management stated that confirming high-grade polymetallic massive sulfide continuity within one of the world's most established mining districts provides exceptional brownfield development upside. With global zinc supply constrained by multiple European smelter closures and demand accelerating for critical galvanized structural steel and energy storage alloys, Errington offers near-surface, high-margin production potential. Normandy confirmed that two diamond core rigs will continue drilling through the winter to delineate an initial compliant mineral resource.
