Story details

Spain’s agriculture ministry said on 21 October that regional governments would receive €50.1743 million assigned to Spain from the EU agricultural reserve. The money is intended for farmers whose economic viability was affected by the Middle East crisis and rising production costs.

Regions can direct the aid toward documented increases in fertiliser and energy costs, set their own eligible sectors and beneficiaries, and contribute additional funds of up to 200% of their allocation. EU-reserve aid must be paid by 28 February 2027; regional top-ups may be paid by 31 May 2027. A separate €19.1 million animal-health allocation was also agreed at the same conference and is not included in this fund total.
