Category counts cover the reviewed snapshots. Search and other filters apply to the results below. Changing category keeps the other filters and clears an incompatible source filter.

Partial source coverage. Status and company roles are reported by each source, not independently verified as current. Unknown does not mean zero.
Boreholes and sidetracks may share a well ID. Counts describe these source snapshots, not market size. Catalogue labels describe the source, not territorial boundaries. Permitted locations may not have been drilled.
A reported field is present, not necessarily accurate or current. Filtering on depth or date also changes the denominator.

What were these boreholes for?
Select a purpose to narrow the records. These classifications come from source descriptions; they do not establish current operations.
No records match this selection. Broaden or clear the filters.
How deep are the reported boreholes?
Measured depth follows the borehole path. Each source has its own distribution and axis; reference levels remain unchanged. This is not vertical depth, and sources are not pooled.
The shaded box contains the middle half of reported depths, from the 25th to the 75th percentile. The line marks the median; whiskers show the observed minimum and maximum.
This selection has no positive measured depths in metres. Missing values remain unknown.
Which sources are represented?
Checked date means when we accessed a source. Source as-of date means its reported data date; an unknown as-of date is not replaced with the checked date.

Completeness is not accuracy, reserve size, investment value or predictive skill. Borehole records, field production and nearby heat-flow sites have different scopes.
How to read the numbers
Completeness is not accuracy, reserve size, investment value or predictive skill. Borehole records, field production and nearby heat-flow sites have different scopes.
Depth percentiles use linear interpolation (type 7) on finite, positive measured depths in metres, separately for each source and the selected records. The box is a descriptive spread, not a confidence interval.
Source identifiers are not a cross-source count of unique physical wells. Log wells are not automatically joined to atlas boreholes.

Opening the map connects to OpenStreetMap. Pins use WGS84 coordinates; accuracy varies by source. Zoom into clusters, then select a pin. Coincident records open a filtered list.

Public administrative records are normalized with stable source identifiers. Original operators, drilling contractors and reported owners remain separate roles. Dates describe source access or reported events; they do not establish live activity. Coordinates are transformed to WGS84 where needed. Confidential records and personal owner fields are excluded. See each source for coverage, attribution and reuse terms.
