Story details
The Republic of the Congo’s Council of Ministers adopted draft decrees on 7 October 2026 to modify two existing petroleum permits held by state oil company SNPC. ACI reported the decision the following day.
The drafts concern the Lidongo exploitation permit and the Marine XXIX-A exploration permit. The report describes amendments to existing decrees, not awards of new permits.
ACI’s fuller cabinet record describes a boundary adjustment between adjacent permit areas following an agreement involving Mercuria and Oriental Energy, as well as a requested extension for Lidongo. These are administrative and contractual steps.
The report does not announce new output, field development completion or a production start. The decrees are described as drafts adopted by cabinet; their later legal publication and implementation are separate milestones.
