Story details
The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s planning ministry said its delegation joined Angola, Zambia, development partners and private-sector representatives at the second Lobito Corridor coordination meeting in Lusaka on 5–6 October. The ministry described the talks as covering investment mobilisation, infrastructure, trade facilitation and coordination among projects.
The ministry said the country is consolidating an integrated corridor development plan aligned with national and provincial programmes. It identified rehabilitation and modernisation of the Dilolo–Sakania railway as a strategic link that would need to connect with roads, logistics platforms, energy and digital infrastructure; the report does not say that financing has been secured or give a project cost or quantified reduction in transport costs.
The ministry also said the DRC delegation sought more precise tracking of commitments and progress. Its account presents local processing, agricultural value chains and small-business investment as aims of the wider corridor programme, rather than completed outcomes.
