Story details
At the BUILD 2026 conference in Abuja on October 21, Communications Minister Bosun Tijani called for shared computing infrastructure and regional technology partnerships to accelerate artificial-intelligence development. He identified electricity, broadband connectivity, cloud computing and access to advanced chips as constraints for Nigeria and other African countries.
Tijani highlighted plans for a Nigeria–Togo data park and expanded fibre links, and proposed pooling computing resources across the continent for large research workloads. These were plans and proposals described at a conference; the report did not announce that the data park or shared compute system had been built or funded.
