Gezira authority continues aerial operations against starling flocks
The plant-protection authority reported aerial spraying across several Gezira areas, with Rahad next and an additional aircraft planned for western Gezira.
The Gezira Plant Protection Authority said aerial spraying against starlings was continuing in eastern Gezira, Al Manaqil, Al Qurashi and northern and southern parts of the state. SUNA reported from Madani on 10 October that flights had covered targeted areas; the authority said earlier operations reduced bird numbers at those sites.
The authority said work in the Rahad agricultural scheme was planned for early the following week and one additional aircraft was planned for western Gezira. No pesticide name, application volume, cost or quantified bird count was given, and the aircraft was a plan rather than a delivered asset.
