Farm Credit Canada said on 21 October it would invest $1.5 million through its AgriSpirit Fund in 83 rural community projects. Grants range from $10,000 to $25,000 and cover food security, agricultural and community infrastructure, accessibility, energy efficiency, recreation and emergency services.

The commercial Crown corporation said the selected projects are in rural communities across Canada. Since the fund began in 2004, it has supported 1,861 projects with $25.5 million, according to FCC. The new announcement concerns local community facilities and services; the release does not break down the current award total by project type or report completed construction.
