Story details
Real gross domestic product by industry was essentially unchanged in July 2026, Statistics Canada reported. Ten of 20 industrial sectors expanded. Construction rose 1.3% for a fourth consecutive month, while manufacturing contracted 0.9%.
The services-producing aggregate was also essentially flat as gains in several sectors were offset by lower retail and wholesale trade. Statistics Canada’s advance estimate indicated GDP increased 0.2% in August, a preliminary figure due for revision with the next monthly release.
