Canadian merchandise exports fell 2.3% in July 2026 while imports increased 2.2%, leaving a $769 million surplus, down from $4.2 billion in June, Statistics Canada reported. It was the fifth consecutive monthly surplus.

Exports declined for the first time in six months, with energy and metal and non-metallic mineral products among the largest downward contributors. In volume terms, total exports fell 1.5%. These figures cover goods trade on a seasonally adjusted balance-of-payments basis.
