Story details

Statistics Canada announced on 21 September 2026 that July data on transportation and storage of crude oil and other liquid petroleum products were available. This is a data-release notice for July activity, rather than an announcement of new pipeline capacity or an October inventory figure.

Transportation throughput and stored inventory answer different questions: throughput describes movement during a period, while inventory is a stock at a defined time. Neither directly measures production at a single well. Users should check product coverage, units, time basis and geographic boundaries in the associated tables before comparing the series with extraction or export statistics. The notice itself does not state a storage-capacity increase.
