Story details

Insee’s business-climate indicator for French manufacturing reached 105 in October, up four points from September and above its long-run average of 100. The institute said all component balances contributed to the increase, especially opinions on overall and foreign order books.

The balance for manufacturers’ personal production outlook rose to 19 from 14 in September, while the foreign order-book balance improved to −1 from −10. These are survey balances on business sentiment, not measured changes in industrial output; Insee also reported a strong improvement in transport-equipment manufacturing.
