Insee’s volume index for all trade was nearly unchanged in August after a 0.4% July decline; wholesale and vehicle trade fell while retail sales rose.
The volume of sales across French trade slipped 0.1% in August, following a 0.4% decline in July, Insee reported. Wholesale trade excluding motor vehicles fell 0.2%, and motor-vehicle trade also declined; retail trade increased 0.3%.
The figures are seasonally and calendar adjusted. Insee lowered July’s monthly change by 0.3 percentage points to −0.4% after late company returns were included.
Istat reported a 2.9% monthly fall in seasonally adjusted output, while the unadjusted annual comparison rose 2.3%.
