Eni said on 19 October that it had completed the Bouri Gas Utilization project offshore Libya and begun start-up procedures. The system is designed to capture and treat associated gas that had been flared.
The company estimates the project could add about 700 million standard cubic metres of gas a year and avoid roughly 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. These are stated project estimates, not measured production results.
The Western Desert development is designed to process up to 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day; start-up activity does not mean full production.
