Story details
The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an and the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) have launched Nama, a pilot intended to help revive underused farms in the Al Ain region, WAM reported on 21 October. The partners say selected farms will be assessed and supported in developing agricultural, tourism and commercial uses.
The planned support includes farm-management guidance, technical and field consultations, and help with operational processes and visitor-ready experiences. ADAFSA said licensed farm businesses in Abu Dhabi may undertake 145 approved economic activities, including plant production, supporting food activities and recreation. The pilot will begin with selected farms; later expansion depends on evaluations, performance indicators and the quality of the experience, so the announcement does not establish how many farms will ultimately participate or the programme’s economic results.
