The U.S. Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.4% in August 2026 after a 0.1% rise in July and a 0.1% decline in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. Over the year to August, final-demand prices rose 5.4% on an unadjusted basis.
Final-demand goods prices advanced 1.1%, while services prices rose 0.1%. Energy prices accounted for more than three-quarters of the goods increase; diesel fuel prices jumped 24.1%.
