Story details
Rostec reported on 9 October that its Tekhnologiya enterprise had installed high-strength glazing on a prototype PMA-3 railway track machine made for Russian Railways (RZD). The front and side panes are electrically heated; the glazing set also includes vents and unheated rear windows. The source does not state when installation took place.
Rostec says Kalugaputmash, part of the Sinara group, made the PMA-3 for RZD for track maintenance and safety. The company gives a rated productivity of 3,300 sleepers per hour while tamping three sleepers at once, and says this is three times the previous generation’s capacity; these are machine specifications, not reported field output. The release cites an expert estimate of 150 machines needed by RZD, which is not an order count.
