Story details
In its 10 October release, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Water and Energy reported that three water-supply networks in Karchikel, Shingar and Batash villages in Nari district, Kunar province, had been completed and put into operation. The release does not separately state the completion date. The ministry reported total project costs of more than 5 million Afghanis and said the works were intended to provide local residents with clean drinking water.
The ministry described 5 kilometres of installed pipe, four water tanks and 180 water taps across the networks. It said 180 families in the three villages had gained improved access to safe drinking water and that dozens of people had been employed during construction. The release gives no daily water-volume figure or service-coverage estimate beyond those villages.
