Story details
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and oil and gas stakeholders met in Port Harcourt on October 19 to discuss implementing recommendations from a study of domestic manufacturing capacity. The study, commissioned in 2022 and submitted in July 2023, covered pumps, valves, flanges, gaskets, fasteners, metering solutions and instrument fittings.
NCDMB said about 60 indigenous companies were identified in the assessment, of which 18 met the required criteria. The implementation priorities include infrastructure, skills development, access to finance and partnerships, and compliance monitoring. Its 70% Nigerian-content figure for 2027 is a strategic-roadmap target, not a reported manufacturing result.
