Spain authorises release of six days of diesel and kerosene reserves
The government approved a second release under the IEA’s coordinated action: 4.4 million barrels of middle distillates, available to the market through 15 December.
Spain’s energy ministry said on 22 October that it would put diesel and kerosene equivalent to six days of national consumption on the market by 15 December. The measure implements a further phase of the International Energy Agency’s collective oil-stock action.
The ministry said the release covers 4.4 million barrels of automotive and other gasoils, aviation kerosene and other kerosenes. It will use industry-held minimum security stocks and will not draw on strategic stocks held by CORES; the timing and mix of Spain’s remaining contribution will be decided later.
The Western Desert development is designed to process up to 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day; start-up activity does not mean full production.
