Story details

UAE renewable-energy capacity rose from 129 megawatts in 2015 to more than 8.2 gigawatts in 2025, an increase of over 63 times, Energy and Infrastructure Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei said in a statement published by WAM on 21 October. He said clean energy supplied 32.4% of national electricity generation in 2025, with a target of 35% by 2031.

Al Mazrouei said planned national investment of up to AED200 billion through 2030 would support clean-energy projects and growing demand. He also cited the Barakah nuclear plant’s 5.6 GW generation capacity and said it supplies 25% of UAE electricity needs. These are figures and targets cited by the minister; the statement does not provide a breakdown of 2025 generation by source or detail the investment schedule.
