Story details

Statnett said on 5 October that global supplier-market prices, financing costs and uncertainty are raising estimates across its transmission-grid portfolio. For large projects sent to market in 2026, the operator said about 80–90% of the cost increases were generally attributable to higher market prices, interest rates and other uncertainty. That share refers to the increases, not to total project costs.

The company’s examples show the estimate for Onarheim station rising from NOK 0.64–0.82 billion in 2022 to NOK 1.1–1.5 billion in 2026, and Eiker station from NOK 1.3–1.7 billion in 2023 to NOK 2.3–3.4 billion in 2026. Statnett also cited geopolitical uncertainty, commodity prices and technical or regulatory changes as risks; the figures are project estimates, not final outturn costs.
