Bore and annular volume

Calculate cylindrical or annular volume with an explicit allowance.

Inputs are sent to the server for this calculation without being saved or added to the URL. Saving a scenario stores it only in this browser.

Calculation inputs

Enter decimals with a point or comma, without thousands separators. Blank optional values stay unknown.

mmgreater than: 0 · maximum: 10,000
mmminimum: 0 · maximum: 10,000
mgreater than: 0 · maximum: 30,000
%minimum: 0 · maximum: 1,000
Clear inputs

Example inputs are illustrative, not data from a real well.

Formula and assumptions

Use one uniform cylindrical section; length is along the bore, not TVD. Use internal casing/hole diameter and the outside diameter of any inner pipe. Washouts, joints and fluid losses are excluded. The allowance is user-selected; this is a geometric estimate, not a cementing programme.

V = π / 4 × ((D / 1000)² − (d / 1000)²) × L; Vₑ = V × (1 + excess / 100)
